Quebec with Women Traveling Together- La Belle Province

The unique and magnificent flavor of Quebec was captured and savored during this delicious trip to La Belle Province. It was so...so....very French!!!  And yet we never left North America. This was a trip during which we were able to appreciate good food, good conversation and in the end, good friends. It truly was an experience which is summed up in the motto of the province itself, Je me souviens....I remember.  And we always will remember this very special experience we had together as travelers, and as friends!
Burlington, Vermont was our starting point, but as soon as we crossed the border into the province of Quebec, we knew we were in another world. Our first stop at a depanneur brought us cheese curds that squeaked between our teeth and cinnamon bun flavored potato chips! We soon discovered that the city of Montreal is not only French, but a kaleidoscope of many cultures, blended together in a melting pot of colors, flavors and smells that delighted our senses. Our tour of this multiethnic city brought a new understanding of how many cultures can truly live together harmoniously while appreciating one another's differences.
As we traveled north to Quebec City, we had a totally different feel.  It was like we were transported into another place in time, and another country: France itself. The architecture, churches, hotels, musicians and the people had a certain old world charm. As we walked the boardwalk below the magnificent Chateau Frontenac, our travelers broke into dance as the street musicians played. It was just that feeling of being in a totally different world! The high tea at the Chateau was delectable with delicacies that were prepared especially for us. The cobble stone streets were filled with shops, cafes, and restaurant patios with umbrellas. The market was a menagerie of local products including wines, chocolates, pastries, fruits, vegetables, and of course, maple yummies that we all enjoyed together later in the evening at our hotel!
But the fondest memories of our trip to Quebec were when we were gathered around the table. The slow pace of French meals became our daily habit as we savored every morsel of the positively delicious food that had been prepared with the utmost care. It was beautiful to behold, and even more beautiful to taste! And we did so slowly, spending hours together, enjoying good food, good conversation, and good friends. Yes, ladies, Je me souviens! Merci.  Merci beaucoup!
